Through photography and ceramics, Elina Belou tests the temperature of time. She sounds out, experiments and works according to what she describes as “the gesturing of contemplation”. Within such a rhythm, slowness becomes a friend that guides her in quietly ushering in and retransmiting the ephemerality of all things. Every process or material that Elina employs proceeds from an artisanal technique with an almost ecological concern – clay, film photography, colour or even her frames are worked through with a kind of respectful joy, an ancestral savoir-faire, that brings together subjects via their humilities.
