Fernando Marante
Fernando Marante (Matosinhos, 1973) is a photography-based visual artist, whose experimental work explores the effects of time in the creation of the photographic image. Most of his works are generated with custom built devices, often using electrical engines, the wind or the artist own body to add movement to common objects. In his research to expand the semantics of his images, Fernando Marante often crosses the photographic source of the images he creates with the lexicon of other arts, assuming a great influence from drawing and musical syntax. He completed his education at Ar.Co Lisboa in 2018 and, in the following year, won the Paris Photo Carte Blanche prize. Since then he has had solo shows in Lisbon and Paris and has also participated in collective shows, art fairs, festivals and biennials in Portugal, Spain, France, United States and Canada.
